I deal with life every day, and the patients that come to me, come with a hope of seeing back the beautiful creations of nature. Aware of this expectation, I do everything possible to revive their vision. This pursuit demands sharp precision, a continuous focus for several hours, and a lot of academic research – all these after Delhi’s frustrating traffic and family commitments. Little did I realise, I had not been seeing what the eyes are meant to see. I was yearning to witness the setting sun painting the clouds pink, green forest dotted with wildflowers, white snow shining at a distance, and vibrant birds chirping in orchards.
And so, I took a break, a break for myself. With a little bit of online search, when I found Mukteshwar, I could sense that the quaint hill station was calling me. And so, I packed up and started enjoying my solo holiday experience in Mukteshwar.
Mukteshwar, unlike any typical hill station, isn’t a place for someone looking for a “mall road experience” with cluttered shops, crowded tourist spots and vendors running after you to sell their overpriced items. Instead, it’s a destination for every soul looking to discover itself and connect with the greater creations. A gentle walk through un-mettled alleys, loving conversation with village kids and sometimes just sitting by the oak forest letting the crisp mountain air caress me, was my holiday and rejuvenation. Luckily, I got to stay in one of the best hotels in Mukteshwar.
Here’s a glimpse of my colourful journey:

And now when I’m back in Delhi, the thought of Mukteshwar always calms me down and is helping me be a bit more graceful at my work. It seems I have imbibed the vivid colours, the freshness in the air and the calmness of country people.
As a doctor, I prescribe every working lady to take out time for herself and to go explore the mountains and countryside. And when you travel to remote locations, make sure you leave it a little cleaner than it was. Another piece of advice – look for pet-friendly hotels in Mukteshwar, they are usually very good.
