Kumaon Village Hike

  • A heart to heart conversation with some native mountain folks, experiencing their ways of making a living and becoming a part of their simple celebrations
  • Villagers will take you on a walk through undulating terraced fields, farms, meadows, woods and fruit laden orchards to showcase how they interact will all these elements on day to day basis to make their living.
  • Witness how everything being used is interconnected in a way that by-product of one rural/farming activity becomes the main input ingredient of other, so that nothing goes wasted.
  • You will introduce you to the resident trees, plants and farm animals
  • In the season, you will get an opportunity to participate in hands-on farming activities like fruit plucking, vegetable harvesting, sowing and cattle feeding. Visit the pristine spring water source which fulfills the need of the entire village all-round the year.
  • Take a walk to the village school and the village temple.
  • You will be welcomed in a humble, yet lively homes where you will be served seasonal fruits and some local Kumaoni cuisine. A look into kitchen, their grain and fruit storage areas, their cattle shed will bring close to the culture.

— Participants should be ready to walk 4-5 kms of undulating paths

— Time duration: 2 hours approx

— Strictly follow instructions of your trek leader

— Please carry your garbage back

— Basic refreshments will be provided

— Washroom facility is available at the starting point

— Binoculars and brochures will be provided, which has to be returned to the guide
